On the holy pool at the Golden Temple, Amitsar, India.

He stands seemingly unsupported and motionless- or is that a ladder beneath him – no – merely a reflection of the scaffolding in the water. If you look closely you can just make out a thin piece of wood or is it cork supporting not only him but a pail. He is ensuring the cleanliness of the pool so that pilgrims can bathe in the waters of the Sacred Lake. The lake is believed to have healing properties for body, mind and spirit. The City of Amritsar takes its name, which means pool of ambrosial nectar, from the smaller ancient lake around which the Golden Temple and its complex was built. It is the most important Sacred Shrine for Sikhs but it is also a haven of rest, rare spirituality, peace and tranquillity for all pilgrims and travellers.
