Musings about life…

How much has our technology robbed us of our ability to adapt and overcome?  Fire.  A simple tool that took us from pitiful animals to a community of people, and yet, how many of us could light a fire with the elements of the Earth?

Our technology has increased exponentially.  It took thousands of years for our ancestors to rise from the stone axe and bloody food to cooking in a microwave and storing meat in a freezer.  It was this very consumption of meat that increased our brain size to house the organ that now drives us to create a whole new world within a box called a computer.

Hunt, kill, eat and live.  These were the steps to survive for the last several millennium and yet we now have progressed to and age of plenty and still there is starvation and malnutrition in our world.

Imagination, hope and dreams – these are the driving forces to human evolution.  Forsake the medicine man and prophetic dreams for the Dow and Currency rate.

We are damned if we think we have harnessed the Earth, Nature holds more control over us then we have over it.  Just a small hiccup in the rotation and all that we have accomplished in the last five or so thousand years will vanish in a month.

The Earth we walk does not belong to us, instead we belong to it and we are always at the mercy of the whims of the celestial bodies, think of this the next time you feel invincible.

Good job. I’ve never felt invincible, always vulnerable! :)
    Thanks,

Very well written. That should get the wits out of those invincible great minds out there. Just one solitary swim at the deeper portion of the open sea with only the wetsuit on and one could feel he/she may not be at the top of the food chain, and we always belong to the Earth and whatever creature that may swallow us out of our thinking..

Awesome social commentary based on our terrible Human Condition. Your points are well written and well taken. Great article B.

Recognizing our weaknesses is a major strength.
