McKinney is only 29 miles north of Dallas, Texas. McKinney has a lot of nearby attractions including Wilson Creek Park, Collin county youth and farm museum, old post office museum, heard natural science museum, and Dallas world aquarium.

McKinney Texas is a nice neighborhood for young families, single people and also the elderly. Money Magazine said, “Lots of towns near Dallas have low crime, affordable homes, and good jobs.” There is a college campus in McKinney called Collin College. The college was established in 1986. Newsweek rated schools throughout the whole entire nation and it was ranked 191 out of 1000. Dallas Morning News reported that McKinney North High School was ranked #4 in state and #3 in the area for football.

McKinney offers a city atmosphere with the population at 131,117. It is the second fastest growing city. McKinney Texas was in 5th place in CNN’s Money Magazine as the nicest place to live in the United States. McKinney was the only location located in Texas to make the list within the top 10.

McKinney even has some history behind its name. McKinney got its name after the singer Collin McKinney who sung at the Texas Declaration of Independence. It also received its name from a congressman who was the congressman for the Red River district.

In McKinney the average monthly rent is $767. To buy a house the average price is 172,400. The mortgage average is $1,160. Twenty percent of the people who live here make between $100,000 and $149,999. So to live her is very reasonably priced.

McKinney is a subtropical region. The hottest month is July with the coldest month being January. The hottest on record is 118 degrees Fahrenheit, and the coldest being at negative 7 degrees Fahrenheit. Most of the precipitation happens in May.
