Quick piece about human reason and war.
I am going to start off by saying that reason is a way for the mind to hide its own faults. Are we truly creatures of reason, or are we merely subjects of our own need to survive. What does reason have to do with war? Think about it for a moment… our governments need a reason to invade a country. There has to be a good reason, sort of speaking. Is there ever truly a good reason for war? Search back throughout history, it is either because one group has threatened the other, or one group decides that the other has something that they want. Now the answer to the question for reason is survival!
With this survival comes our animal instinct. With all our technology and knowledge we still carry a barbaric desire to conquer thy neighbor. We desire to have what the other person, or group has. Why does this need exist with in our own souls? It is a simple fact that we all in someway want to be on top. Survival of the fittest and only the strong survive, right? We are no different from the animals that we fear and love at the same time. A fine example would be that of the wolf. Now are we much different from a true wolf pack? No! We all are governed by simple rules and complex laws. As that of a wolf pack, we too have a leader. This could be a president, king, queen or some other form of a higher monarch. If we break our laws we are punished. In a wolf pack, the disobedient wolf is also punished. Societies exist throughout all creatures. The difference is we don’t fight merely for survival, but for the true desire to conquer and rule. This is where war comes into play, you have what I want and I am going to take it.
Throughout history war was merely a political battle between governments. Whether it was for territory, power or plain old political gain, the reason remains the same… the true desire to have the world! Everyday we can see examples of our true barbaric desires. Whether it be watching the news on television or reading the daily paper. With in our societies there is always conflict. To truly understand the reason of war we must first truly understand our own minds desires. For example, think back to a time when you were driving and another driver just cut you off. What was running through you mind? Was it anger, rage or some other form of conflict? Now, picture another time when you were at the gas station standing at the check out and some person jumps ahead of you when it is your turn. What was going through your mind at that time? No matter how simple or complex the reason for the conflict is, the reason remains the same….the true desire to survive, conquer and be number one!
