Inventions…

The field of food and drink also greatly benifited from the advances of the 20th century. It may seem extraordinary to us now, but, for many years, middle-class people would spend a great deal of money ordering expensive bottled water when going out to restaurants and sometimes even when they went shopping! Then someone discovered that, simply by placing one’s hand over a “tap” and moving it in the “anti-clockwise” direction, one could produce, infinite quantity of drink water. This came as a welcome surprise to all consumers.

Other money-saving innovations were to follow thick and fast. The middle-classes had for years aspired to own a “swimming-pool” – a primitive, yet highly, box-shaped hole in the ground in wich they could swim ten strokes out and ten strokes back. But an extraordinary discovery was to change all that: news came trough that, on the coast, where the land ends, there was a free swimming-poll for everybody, with his non-stop waves, its floor constructed of sand rather than concrete, in wich one could swim any distance for absolutely nothing. Once again, our quality of life had been improved by the march of science
