Sometimes we need to write a story about the way a love should have been…

We Should Be…

We should be feeling deeper than we have ever felt,
craving each other in ways we never dreamed possible,
unsatiated, yearning for each other in mind and body.
We should be connected beyond what words say,
beyond even what brilliant ideas can formulate.
We should be imprisoned to mind-numbing forces
of undeniable supernatural urges to be one,
with your arms around me, my body pressed into you,
feverish passion at every turn, with chemicals like ours,
making love over and over again in ascending bliss,
our lips igniting, our hands exploring, our bodies melting.
We should be lost in each other, not wanting to be found,
afraid to miss a moment of sound, smell, taste, touch and light,
feeling strength and harmony within our bond,
laughing, learning, creating, and filling each other,
with what we two are surely missing today.

Now, it feels like we both flail…
down misleading paths with uncertain turns.
We stumble and even try to run away,
and we are deafened by the sounds
that we try to muffle in our minds.
We don’t smell our tailored fragrance,
and we’ve diluted the sweetest tastes.
We are unsoothed with unmatched touch,
haunted by the darkness of night,
that mocks the light we left behind.

Our story Should Be different.

Love doesn’t stay the exciting first love you feel for your partner at the beginning of a relationship. It turns into a mature loving relationship that is more valuable for the long term.

Thanks for your comment Ruby. I agree with you about the mature relationships being the most valuable for sure! :) This post is about a love that had so much potential but didn’t even get the chance for the exciting beginning part, so that’s the bummer part! Happy day to you, friend! :)
