You will do your best by meditating on the best and not focusing on the worst…
Before you rush off and answer that very question I just posed, consider this story about Identical Twins…
One of the twins was an optimist, whose own motto was “Every thing’s coming up roses!”
The other twin was a pessimist who always anticipated the worst.
So the story starts with this: The parents took the twins to see a psychologist, hoping to balance out their personalities. The psychologist suggested that on their next birthday, they put each child in a separate room to open their presents.
“Give the pessimist twin the best toys you can afford,” the Shrink said., “and give the optimist a box of horse manure.”
The parents did as the psychologist requested. So when the parents peeped in at the pessimist twin with his presents, they heard him complaining. “I don’t like the colour of this toy! I don’t want to play this game! I just know a better computer console will be out next month! It is not fair! Everything bad happens to me!”
Next they looked in on the optimist and to their amazement the boy was smiling. He was throwing up in the air the manure and shouting, “You can’t fool me Mom and Dad! With this much manure there’s got to be a pony somewhere!”
So did you get the moral of that story? No doubt you did.
Whatever you keep looking for – you’ll eventually find, whether good or bad! If you’re walking with God, here’s what you should be looking for. Listen: “You will be blessed in the city and…the country…when you come in and when you go out…the enemies…will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on…everything you put your hand to…then all the peoples of the Earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord and they will fear you. The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity…the Lord will make you the head, not the tail, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom!”
So today start being more positive, even in the darkest days and try and look for a positive, no matter how small. That will be difficult for many, especially if their problems are extremely serious.
Maybe you are not religious? But still whether you are or not, there is a message in here for all to consider.
Trust in the Lord. If in doubt, ask for God’s guidance.
Start looking for God’s blessings!
