What do I want for my birthday?
What I Want for my Birthday
It is still months away until November. Yet I’ve already been asked what I want for my birthday. I always have trouble answering that question. It tends to catch me off guard. I’m usually good at buying stuff or other peoples birthdays. I just stick around enough to know what they like. Apparently all those that know me don’t have that ability. I have ended up with gifts that I personally can’t believe someone actually put out for sale.
I have had many friends say I am odd, strange and even loony. I figured that those were good clues as to what someone could get me.
I have given this some thought and here are things I feel I should get for my birthday:
1.CAKE
I don’t want a sheet cake. That is not what I grew up with. I want a 2 layer vanilla cake with caramel icing. A birthday cake should also have decorations on it. Nothing girly, but something neat. I like making fairy gazebo’s, so why not a fairy or dragon or rocks. I gather rocks to make my crafts. I think some crystal rock candy would be neat.
2.A Big Meal
My birthday is always the same week as Thanksgiving. So I’ve grown up having a big meal on my birthday. Our family would either have Turkey or Duck and some years we had both. I have not had Duck and Dressing since I was a teen. Now that is tooo Long!
3.Family
Since my birthday always falls around thanksgiving, I am rather used to having lots of family around that day. It also tended to be a double birthday party, since my oldest cousin’s birthday was only 4 days after mine. That was cool.
4.Interesting Wrapping Paper
Plain wrapping paper is just plain. Get rid of it. Use something interesting. I have yet to find some Dragon wrapping paper. I would love that. I’ve seen fairy wrapping paper. My daddy used to save all the colored sunday funny’s throughout the year and used them for gift wrapping. Only problem was that daddy could only use one arm and he usually got me to do his present wrapping for him. I remember the first year that he got my sister to wrap stuff. That was a mess.
5.Ice Cream
You got to have Ice Cream with cake. The best ice cream is home made. My Papa used to have my sister and I sit on that old hand crank maker when we were kids. His favorite was orange sherbert. I would like either vanilla or orange crush.
6.No Clothes
I can get clothes anytime of the year. When others get me clothes, they get the wrong sizes and colors I don’t wear. Plus what others think is in style, is not what I care for. Remember I live out in the country and need clothes that I can use when I go out in the woods looking for craft items. If you want to get me clothes, give a gift certificate.
7.Lumber
I like building stuff. I recently found a metal frame for a picnic table. Now I need wood and screws to put it together. I think it would be neat to have that picnic table fixed so I can take my laptop outside for creative writing. I think it would also be neat to build my crafts outside. I’d have more room.
8.Bug Zapper
With a finished picnic table, I sure could use a bug zapper hanging over it. We are between a river and a lake, so we got plenty of bugs to zap.
9.Gas Money
I love driving around looking for stuff that I can use for crafts, or building. I also love going to garage sales and flea markets. That always takes gas. Plus with gas, I can go visit my sons.
10.Doctor Who
I’ve been a Doctor Who fan since the 80’s. The next season will be out on DVD sometime before my next birthday. I also like Torchwood, NCIS, Numb3rs and a few others that I can’t afford.
11.Cinema
A gift certificate to the Cinema would be great. I love going to the movies. When I was a teen, we lived four blocks from the Royal theater. I was so neat to just walk up there.
12.Craft Supplies
I’m always running out of Goop. That is my favorite glue. It sticks to stuff that other glues don’t. If you find an unusual rock, keep it for me. I’m always looking for antlers, interesting small stones, colored broken glass, large beads and anything different for my crafts.
13. Rock Tumbler
Mine quit this past year. You can put coins in there for cleaning, or you can put rocks in there to smooth them out for polishing. I’ve also put glass in for frosting.
OK, I’m getting carried away here. I think I’ve given enough hints and clues here. So I hope you can make it this year.
