What if it was only a huge marketing ploy by the priests and the funeral directors, just to get us to willingly pay them a lot of money so that we can book early our resting place before our journey to eternity?

The theory of there being an eternity came about when mankind realized that it did not have an answer for the question, what is our purpose?

So, as in many other cases, the human race made a decision to pass the responsibility for providing the answer to a higher being. In this way it was hoped that the majority of people would just accept their situation and wait patiently for the answer, until they finally arrived in eternity.

Many people believe that Douglas Adams in his book, The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, came the closest to answering the question what is the meaning of life, when he said ‘42’.

You can call me a doubting Thomas, although I don’t think that it is only Thomas who doubts this theory of there being an eternity.

What if there really was no eternity? What if we went nowhere after we died? What then?

Ok, I can hear the outcry, this is sacrilege they are saying, but that is the word that is expressed by the same people that came up with and follow the eternity theory.

Has anyone ever been there and come back to tell us about it? Have we received any ‘wish you were here’ postcards, from any of our relatives who have taken the journey to eternity?

What if there was no hereafter, no place beyond and no resting place for our souls?

What if we did not have a soul and that was yet again just a clever part of the overall marketing campaign to convince us about the higher being and eternity?

So many questions and no real tangible answers, because this theory on the existence of eternity works on the basis that it is all outside of our touchable materialistic world.

 Now isn’t that very convenient?

It would appear that the only way we are ever going to find out if eternity really does exist, is for us to wait and see for ourselves.

Of course, by the time that happens we will not have any way of letting anyone know and so the mystery will continue, for many generations to come, until the end of time.

Interesting point of view. I think that since we are energy, a bunch of molecules (protons, electrons…bla bla bla), and energy cannot be destroyed only transformed, in that sense we are eternal.
