Remember those zombie movies?  An experiment goes bad, the whole world becomes infected except for some who manage to survive? Take that and make it intelligent, and give it a purpose.  All hell breaks loose.

      It all began like any other infection.  Some people came down with what they thought was a bad cold, they go to the doctor, he gives them antibiotics.  Only the medicine doesn’t work, and these people begin to panic as they feel themselves dying.  Our society has become so dependent on medication to solve their problems that their body has little or no immune system.  Not that it matters.
      This new infection begins to spread, starting in the smaller towns and villages and spreading faster and faster.  It carries on the wind and air, and of course mid October is very windy.  Within a week people start dying, and after a month, the whole world seems infected.  Then, it all disappears.  Everyone thinks it’s over and done with, but then the truth hits – It’s just getting started. 
      See, I’ve been researching this as best as I can and have found out a lot.  This virus, it isn’t a virus at all; It’s an organism, designed to infiltrate and take over our bodies.  It starts when we breathe them in.  It’s usually more than one, and they start by shutting down the organs – kidneys, liver, intestines – one by one, least important to most important.  The heart is last, and at that instant as well they shut down all the nerve pathways except the ones needed for voluntary functions – moving – and take over the brain. 
      So now they have a body and a brain to run it with. They keep themselves alive with the electrical impulses of the brain, and manipulate the rest to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch the world around them, and to move this new body, use it for their own purposes. Once in a while they maul some living thing, then draw all of the energy within it, as it dies, to maintain their new habitat. They are utterly heartless and completely merciless.
      Now it’s down to us few who are left, after they disappeared, to in some way to battle these relentless things and rid our planet of them…and to save our race.
