What exactly is a pet peeve? Do everyone have them? Can a pet peeve be defined? Is there a difference between a pet hate and a pet peeve?

A pet peeve is an annoyance. Something that frustrates the life out of you making you want to scream or it irritates you so much that you feel you need to vent or do something worse. A pet peeve can be a complaint of a particular action or behaviour such as “forgetting to refill the toilet paper roll after using” can be categorized as a pet peeve. Pet peeves are sometimes called “pet hates” because of the implication behind it: “I totally hate it when..”

Breaking up The definition of a pet peeve

The word pet implicates something close to us, something beloved. The word peeve can be defined as an annoyance or to irritate. This is what makes a pet peeve something so unique to each individual and personal too. Pet peeves make up a part of our characteristics.

The thing is whilst we all differ in our pet peeves, and whilst our pet peeves may seem irrational or idiosyncratic to the outside observer or the offender, we are all united in the sense that we all have pet peeves. But how do we deal with our pet peeves? Find out in the next article: http://gomestic.com/pets/put-a-leash-on-your-pet-peeve/
