I was driving around today looking for a fun place
to take my son to play. At one point, I looked back at
him and remembered a line from the movie “The Seventh Sign”;
the thought was – “Would you die for Him ?”

So my thought was out of context,
for in the movie the reference was about Christ.
And yet it made me think;
Yes, I would not hesitate to die for my son –
there are those things in Life worth dying for.

Still greater, though
– what am I willing to live for ?
What am I willing to give; to devote my Life to ?

Is that a question we can honestly say we’ve asked and answered ?
So what is it ?
What is it you feel so passionately about,
that you would devote the rest of your days to ?
What is worthy of devoting the rest of your Life to ?
Are you doing it ?

I suspect most people are not.
Yes, yes – 1 finger points at you,
and 3 are pointing back at me
Many of us are doing things we like to do,
but is it really pulling us – calling to us ?

Take a brief plunge with me and clear the slate.
Take your job, career, business, occupation
and throw it out the window – even if you like it.

Take $34,000,000 and put half into a savings account
and half into your checking account.
Take your calendar and toss it into the trash.

Now what are you going to do – What is worth your Life ?
How would you spend your time ?
What would you do with those precious minutes that go by
– never to be captured again ?

I want to live my life every day knowing
that because I’m alive – the lives of others are happier.
If I’m in the grocery store, I want to see a smile reflected
back from someone who couldn’t seem to find one on their own.
When I’m walking down the sidewalk, I want to see a
gleam in the eye of the passerby because I said hello;
and they know that I was glad they were there for me to greet.
A kind word, a sympathetic nod;
a smile, a laugh, a handshake, a hug…
A bridge between souls to make a difference.

I may never know what you are going through.
(Yes, you who are reading this.)
Just like I may never know what that stranger walking down
the store aisle lookng sad is thinking, contemplating, deciding.

But what if…
What if the road they’re traveling is headed toward destruction.
And what if it only took a moment of someone caring about it –
about them to head them back to a life worth living ?
I suspect you and I have saved a few lives and never even known it.
At the very least, we’ve made a life better.

I can’t believe that if you’ve spent the time to read this
– ESPECIALLY if you’ve read everything else here
that you aren’t already one who spreads sunshine
in your own piece of the world around you.

And you know, I think I had a point in mind when I started this,
but now I think I just want to say thanks.

You -
thank YOU for living a Life that’s making a difference in others.

It may not be your passion or drive in Life,
but it’s important enough for you to take action.

And in that, I am moved by who you are…
