A mid-term test I just wrote.
What time means to me
The time has always existed, and it will always do. The time never stops, some people don’t care, and some people would like to freeze it. “Time is money,” but I will also say: “Money makes the important thing about time.” In this article I would explain why. I’ve lived for over 500millions second. Sometimes I only got half a second to score a goal in an important soccer-game. If I do, I will be the hero for like one week, if not, it would be remembered months in the feature. In movies, time is an incredible important ingredient in the story. The heroes save the world in the very last second. The thrilling get’s a lot more exciting with a time limit. And also in love stories, a regretting man needs to catch the train/plain/bus if he ever would see his big love again.
Time is more important in the richer and healthy countries. Not only because we can afford clocks, but also because we can afford transport to the whole world many times a day. This depends on the travelers, which needs to get to the train/bus/airplane/underground on time. During my preparation day, I read about “Keeping time in Africa.” It says: In Africa, it is not the clock that rules the day… but the relationship. It is being a human being instead of a human doing. Life is short in Africa. (…) Yes, when life is short, the clock reminds one of that shortness, probably one of the reasons that Africans will often ignore the clock. AIDS are the reason why African average life span is 40 years and still falling. As a result of this the Africans don’t wear a clock because they don’t care about time, according to their short lives.
Babies don’t know what time it is, but the adults know that they have routines. Especially sleeping and waking up. When my sister was younger she woke up seven o’clock every morning in the weekends no matter when she fell asleep the day before. It was like a button which was pressed down when “Hand-worker Bob” starts to sing on the Television. Babies don’t know when its dinner, and starts screaming in the nights because they are hungry, had a bad dream, scared of the dark or simply want attention.
Boys and girls are also different when it concerns about time. The clock is used like a jeweler by many girls/women, and the boys/men mostly need a clock which shows the time in a regular way.
