When you experience mental block, what will you do?

Given a problem, situation or question you have to solve or answer, did it ever happen to you losing the ideas on how to come up with the right responses?

All of us experience being in a state of an active mind wherein we are able to process things in a very short span of time and respond with the very best answers. But, at least once we come to the point of being blank, having no thoughts on where or how to start our activities. Normally, we can come up with fresh ideas when we have fresh minds, meaning when we have complete sleep, enough nutrition and peaceful disposition. We gain concentration if there are no other big things that bother us. When ideas don’t come our way, the things that we can do could be:

  •
    1. Stop for a while and let your brain rest. Stare on a blank wall, just make sure nobody else will see you in this state if not, they’ll snap their fingers in front of you trying to wake you up.
    2. Eat some food. Don’t let your brain work if you have empty stomach, there will be no calories to burn, no energy to think.
    3. Think of other things. Preferably less complicated things. Try to remember funny incidences in your life and let a little smile pop on your face and if someone asks you what you are smiling at, don’t hesitate to share. Funny things are worth sharing, especially when they make people smile.
    4. Take a nap. If possible, don’t deprive yourself for a nap. Sometimes, ideas do come when you wake up.
    5. Drink a glass of water. Re-hydrate yourself by inducing water into your system, we tend to forget drinking water when we are too busy thinking. Our brain needs oxygen to function.
    6. Take a deep breath. When we rattled by deadlines and impatient bosses, our breathing becomes faster making us nervous and blank. Our output can be compromised, resulting to erroneous activities.
    7. Be organized. Everything has a process. Think systematically and attack things one by one. Taking it all at once won’t enable you to finish anything. Prioritize your activities or thoughts according to its importance and need.

Hope that those 7 simple reminders could help you alleviate the feeling of being useless

or mentally blocked. Those can be useful when you are in office doing your work or even at home when you do your household chores.
