Do you ever get up in the morning and wonder what surprises the day has in store for you?

Do you ever get up in the morning wondering what the day will bring? Is there any way to really be prepared for everything that will come your way? I often think about what my day has planned for me. I know what I have planned for the day but that isn’t really the question. The question is what does the day have in store for me?  I am not a person who believes that our lives are condemned to fate and that we are predestined to go through a series of hoops in our life. However I am a person who does look at life realistically and knows that since we do interact with other people things will happen we didn’t plan on. I also realize that there are greater forces at work out there then us humans. Yes I am a big believer in God and the Devil, good and evil, right and wrong. I do not have a polarized view of life I do not think everything is simply black and white I think some things are a little gray.

Even with all that are we ever really prepared for what the day will throw at us? Most days we all hit a little snag in the day and it is no big deal. We usually take it in stride and keep going on about our business. Most do things like allow a little extra driving time in case of the unexpected flat tire or traffic accident. Others just get upset deal with it and move on running a little late. I have found that thinking about these things does not make one paranoid or worrisome it makes you prepared to deal with the unexpected. I used to let these things worry me and wonder what I would do if things happened.

Well I came up with the solution. Instead of letting them get me depressed or worried I started coming up with plans. Step one in all the plans for me is to keep in mind that God is in control at all times.  Step two is to face thoughts of what might happen today not matter how bad it may be and decide how to deal with it when it comes. The rules are simple running from the problem is not an option unless it is a case of fire or a life and death situation. Then by all means if your life depends on it run. Otherwise face the problem until it is resolved. Do not be afraid to play what if games. If you get up in the morning and you have what if thought then that is just a fear showing itself. You should then face it and come up with a solution to that fear.  For example if you wake up and you suddenly ask yourself what if the elevator in the office stops working and you are trapped? Then work it out in your mind what steps you would take to get the help you need or to get out. Even research the elevator to learn how to open the door if the power goes out. Learn how things work and then you will have overcome the obstacle that may come your way.

These ideas may seem silly to some. To come up with plans to deal with silly little things that in most cases won’t happen. However like someone once said I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Well I would rather have the plan or know I can figure one out then not have one and not know.

God Bless.
