With the election coming up we are at a piviotal time in our lives.

I graduated in 1997 from Southwest High School in Macon, GA and grew up in Lizella, GA which is the outskirts of Bibb county.  We grew up with not the most and best of material thing, but had an upbringing that I would trade in for nothing.  My grandmother, my mother’s mother, was our rock and she pasted on on June 3rd, 2003.  Since her passing and before I have long wondered what is my ultimate purpose in life.  Many times I have heard that if you stand for nothing that you will fall for anything.  My family and I watched a movie tonight called Talk to Me and it was very good.  I tell you this and hopefully you will watch it with your family.  What kind of future do we have in store?  We as a society I believe have become so dependent on things that we truly do not need.  We have adopted beliefs in holidays and ideas that serve us no greater good other than to glorify our personal self worth by our expression of our material gains.  What has happened to the beliefs that we thought was open to be shared by all, but is it really?  We must realize that we are the power.  The power of our voice that most seem to think is useless.  We blindly elect officials based on what party him or her belongs to and the majority of lies that are told while campaigning.  I don’t think I know everything, but think about this….. we research our electronics or our cars we drive but how good do well do we truthfully understand how our elected officials view the issues that truly matter.  Time is short and now is the time to take a stand for what affects you and your family and the people around you.  We are destroying ourselves and don’t realize it or just don’t seem to think that our voice will make a difference.  I say this, especially being a black man, for our black race.

We are a majority, yet we have been dissected and spirits broken to believe that since I’m a felon or just a cast away that society depicts as useless and a neusense but you still are more than a trap boy, thief, drug addict, or a whore.  You hold a place in this world regardless of what other people might think.  Our leaders have been struck away from us way too early and it seemed to be a win for corporate America and the government has a plan that have been working but this doesn’t have to be the way.  The only way to make that change is to open your mind and your voices.  The bigger picture is the children and the things that they have to endure from such early ages and we just go along since we find it entertaining.  Dave Chapelle is one of my favorite and he walked away from a lucrative contract so he could stand for his greater belief in what he envisioned as his comedy, his voice.  We try to be so politically correct that we often forget to be simply correct.  Make the vote and the noise to awaken this great nation, and restore a sense of respect for us as a people and a country because without a true change I fear what the outcome of things will be in the next 10 years.  No matter your background and occupation let your voice ring loud and clear.  Rap music is looked down on and many say that they don’t understand it yet they listen to it.  They persecute what they don’t condone and which they can not control.  Will you continue to be controlled and manipulated into the lies that are presented to you.  With the Internet we have all the wealth of knowledge at our finger tips and most ignore it.  Right and reason will overcome and this I believe with that I hope, pray, and love.
