A list to a better piece of mind and life!
When was the last time you….
Told someone what was in your heart-People are so busy beating each other up, finding things to bring people down why not do something and tell people who you really feel, let them know you care about this with words or with actions. Most times when these words trip out of our mouths, is it a coincidence that it’s the same time that person really needed to hear the words?
Point out the obvious – society is too quick to find fault in others, video that epic fail, record that conversation, tell someone something they do wrong simply because when bringing others down they think it brings them up. Point out a talent that you see in someone, tell someone they do something well, ask for someone’s expertise in an area. People have an inborn nature to help, and giving them the outlet makes them feel significant in their eyes.
Laughed Out Loud – Ever watch a funny movie, or retell a story with your family, something that really got you laughing? Remember as a child when you would laugh so hard that you would fall down? Why not capture that inner child and laugh again, sit with a friend and tell stories that not just make you smile but make you laugh. Find the positive energy of a laugh and share it!
Ate what you wanted-As we get older we swear it gets to a point where you can maintain your weight with a daily food intake of a blueberry and a cup of yogurt. Like laughter, there’s pleasure in food and stopping for a moment to enjoy a great meal is the equivalent of a great guffaw. Make a point to 80% well and that small 20% indulgence comes without guilt but with a lot of smiles. Better yet, share that meal with someone you care about.
Looked at yourself naked, and accepted what you have. Getting older means a constant fight with gravity, so keep up the fight but celebrate where you are. You’ll never be a supermodel but if you are fit and happy with your place in life then enjoy it. You are beautiful the way you are.
Tried something new- The best way to jumpstart an exercise routine is to try something new. Take a yoga class, try out the hula hoops, get out and zumba-it doesn’t matter what you look like in that class because everyone at some point in time was a beginner also, as they always say in yoga, everyone is at a different place, celebrate where you are and don’t worry about your neighbor. There’s nothing finer than sore muscles signaling you had a great DIFFERENT workout.
Burned your sorrows – take out a piece of paper and write down everything that is bothering you. Sound like a winey bitch, sound like a little child, but write it all down-how you feel, what has happened, who has hurt you, who has ignored you. Look at that piece of paper and the first marvel is that once problems are committed to paper, they don’t seem as big. Take that piece of paper and burn it. Watch the problems go up in smoke and let that be your goal, let go and move forward.
Bucket List – do you have your bucket list committed to paper? Write down your goals, big and small on an index card and put it in your wallet, a place where you can take that card out periodically and read those goals and commit to them again? There’s nothing sweeter than taking a big black Sharpie and drawing a line through a goal as you achieve it! Write yours down now.
Life is how we live it, little steps take us to the bigger picture-a life well lived. Open your heart and your mind and be surprised at the possibilities! Now get started!
What would you put on this list?
