I quit my job back in 2008 because my drivers license were suspended and I know it was my fault.   Since I wasn’t paying my fines by the date they gave me they pulled my license.   My job was two towns away and I was the farthest one to come.   To this date I wondered why I stay ,so long?  I was there for seven years and still make the same wages of someone starting.  

I went to both Public Aid and Unemployment to ask for help.  Unemployment told me since I quit I couldn’t get any benefits.   That totally made me mad since I have worked since I was fifteen.   Don’t you think they could give me some of the money I paid in?   Wanted to scream at the lady that I was in my fifties and needed some help.   I asked her how I could get help from Unemployment and she looked at me to say  “Get a job and earn more than $150. a week for four months straight.   Couldn’t believe what she was saying ,so I told her by than I probably wouldn’t need her help.   She sat there and shrugged her shoulders.

Then over to Public aid and they help a little more than Unemployment did.   They told me since my son and I were both unemployed the best they could do for us was $285. a month food stamps.   No cash assistance since we didn’t have a child living with us.

Well, don’t believe that either cause my daughter and her four year son moved in with us to help us.   She works three days a week and goes to college four days a week.   They told us that we could get $277.  a month of food stamps.   Don’t you think since I added two people to my case that I should get more food stamps instead of being cut back?

We were told that since she makes too much money working at a hospital we couldn’t get any cash assistance and if we earned ,so much money more we would be cut off food stamps.   Please help me understand how people get both cash assistance and food stamps!

My daughter works with a lady in the same position as her and she has a daughter around the same age.  They make the same wages and work the same shift.   The only difference is she get  $550. of food stamps a month and she gets $200. cash assistance.  Please help I really would like to understand this!
