I was just writing whatever was on my mind at the time. This partial poem is about people who have become poor as result of circumstantial situations, and how other people who are among the elite never offer a helping hand to those less fortunate. Keep in mind, this poem is not grammatically correct for a reason so you will see the word “ain’t” or “stressin” This was implemented on purpose.

Are we at the point where everyone is compassionless, If I was hungry would you make me jump hurdles for a crumb of food on your plate, making you feel like a dog begging for a milk bone flavored with steak.
Don’t get me wrong, I was cool before we made it into this great depression, I was cool when I found out to use God as my weapon, and now I’m stressin,

Because apparently the well has run dry, all the money is gone, and all of my friends said bye-bye,
Many clouds in the sky, they don’t care if I live or die, I’m alone and I wonder why,
People in all parts of the country starving, straight up emaciated, and people in your own back yard are hungry too and seldom, few are often celebrated.

If you’re among the elite, then life is sweet, you don’t have a care in the world, plenty of food to eat.
Whatever happened to wanting to help your fellow man, you got money in your pocket, why don’t you give it to the man diggin through the trash can.
You think he wanted to end up without a pot or a window, life has many curve balls, when did we become so selfish that we couldn’t care less about our brother or sister.

When did we start utilizing the mentality of if you aint got it, then I’m not with ya.
You tend to feel embarrassed to tell someone all the things that you lack, the basic necessities such as; toilet paper, soap, milk, water and eggs to crack.
An arrogant one would say go get a job, what if it was a vet who became disabled after fighting for a country that has a double standard where race is concerned. No longer a spring chicken, and no one is hiring in his city, their closing up shop and currently his future is not pretty.

All I’m saying is if you got it give it. There are people that may be a neighbor, a friend a relative that may be in need are you going to be the insensitive, compassionless person to look down at those who don’t have what you have, or who don’t look how you look, or speak the way you speak. I used the hungry man and the disabled vet as an example. Love and look out for one another…
