The recent comics’ issues of ‘Archie marries Veronica’ and ‘Archie marries Betty’ have created a pandemonium among the Archie comic fanatics. The groups were mainly divided over Archie’s alliance with high-headed Veronica or sweet and simple Betty.

When Veronica loyalists loved this sudden surprise element that sprung up in their heroine’s life, Betty fans were sorely disappointed. There were protests and lamentations against the issue by Betty supporters. They claimed that a spoiled, rich and snobbish Veronica could not be a match over the kind, loving and caring Betty.

So did Archie really pick money over love? Archie comic readers surely know about the Veronica Lodge’s multimillionaire father, Hiram Lodge. It is also a well-known fact that Mr. Lodge despises the fact that Veronica dates Archie.

Most of the issues over all these years have projected Betty as the ‘friend in need’ when Archie has been thrown out by Veronica. Betty is always giving Archie the right advice and sees to it that he finds a way out of troubles.

It is not that Veronica cannot appear in a reformed avatar at times. Sometimes, her generous self takes over the usual snobbish high society self. However, is that reason enough for Archie to select Veronica over Betty?
