A different take on Politics BNP and free speech for all. A persons right to express their feelings in public debate or in fact anywhere.

I will admit I didn’t see tae whole BBC “Question time” debate aired in the UK this past Thursday night, however I did see clips on the news and have been keen to observe the fall out.  If you don’t like my slant or views on free speech Democracy and the right of people to express themselves then maybe you’re being prejudice yourself, read on!

Mr Griffin was legally elected as an European Member of Parliament for Doncaster, he represents his constituents in Europe he has a voice and should be heard.

The problem that a large proportion of the UK has, is his political party the BNPor British National Party.  I can feel people shouting at their laptops right now with anger at his beliefs and the party he represents. I am not going to come forward with my likes or dislikes for the man or his party that’s irrelevant.  What we in this country preach and practise are poles apart readers! We are all proud to say in Britain we all get the vote once over 18 years of age, further more we should always vote and if we don’t, that excludes us from political opinion and to some degree that’s right, that leads me to my biggest issue.  Mr Griffin was invited to air his views on a debate show as listed above, however he seemed to be shouted down nearly every time he opened his mouth!

Our Prime Minister in the Commons has expressed his distain for the BNP why? The man was elected fair and square and has a right to his views being heard.   If we suppress views that are controversial or religious and not quite main stream then where does this end?

I am not trying to open a can of worms or a political debate on BNP views there is plenty of that going around without my help. Muslims can be heard inmates on Death Row via their Lawyers can be heard! The list goes on.  You cannot suppress one political parties views because you do not like them they have the same rights as anyone else, lets not make the UK a dictatorship, one man one vote – if they get votes they have earned the right to be heard.

Please think about free speech before you condemn out of hand parties you don’t vote for, or passionately disagree with.  Let them be heard don’t let prejudice eat away at Democracy.

Your main point is well taken. If the man got the votes then it was the will of the people that he should represent them. I take issue with everyone should vote. If a person has no interest or knowledge of the issues involved he should shun the polls rather than muddy the waters.

Totally agree with your article – if the man has been voted in, then he should be allowed to speak. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with his policies or principals. I bet all the people who are protesting, didn’t even bother voting!

You have the right to express your views ,full stop, it is irrelevant
that you have been elected or otherwise.

oh and its the people who do have a genuine interest and concern with real politics …who shun the polls
