From the Jobcentre’s point of view.

I have a job. That is good for me. I work in the Job-centre, which is meant to be good for unemployed people where i live. That means more staff to help them into work, college courses or training for work. Well, is supposed to mean.

The office i work in has around 60 staff approximately. And they keep taking on more and more. There are no desks for these new members of staff, so 2 members are at one desk, which can be quite intimidating for the customer.

There are not nearly enough seats in the waiting area for customers which always looks busy and over crowded.

The majority of staff are not helpful at all, scowling at customers when they have long queries or need help filling out forms. The place is just a shambles!

In my team, there is no communication between staff members. Holiday’s are not covered. Night shift rotas are not cleared with staff…i could go on.

So how on earth can we sit and say there are “no jobs” for people at all, when there are plenty if you look for them, but the staff in these places just do not help you do it?

Dont blame a recession. Nor the “credit crunch”. Blame my colleagues.
