The Frustrations of an aspiring songwriter.
There it is, your finished manuscript, after the initial draft, you check and double check, until you feel it is ready to submit to the publisher. But first of all, it is always prudent to copyright it. Certainly, one accepted method is to put it in an envelope, take it to the Post Office, together with some identification, and register it to yourself. This is the option that I chose, thinking I could get it franked, pay the the fee, sign for it, and bring it home, all ‘done and dusted’, …………………..Wrong, not quite that simple, it had to be delivered; Fair enough, I thought, it will be back home tomorrow.
Tomorrow arrived, but not my manuscript. The next day, whilst I was out shopping, the postman had called, and left a card stating he had tried to deliver a registered envelope, which had to be signed for, and could I call at the sorting office to collect it, and to take with me some means of identification, ie, proof of address etc, which I did, and, after producing my identification, and signing for my envelope, was eventually reunited with my manuscript.
