A very vague, obvious yet original thought struck my mind around midnight like a bolt of enlightenment from heaven. It goes like, “Every square is a rectangle but not every rectangle is a square; similarly all humans belong to the nature but not all what nature offers belongs to the humans.” A very simple statement though. But it carried enough weight to make me write on it.
When I think more about it, it reminds me of the dinosaurs. Once they too like humans were on the pinnacle of their domination on nature. But today all that remains today is their rotted structure in museums for which we pay to have a look at. The point is simple. Is something like this destined for us too? Will some new kind of specie take over the world after my two millionth birthday? And will I be standing frozen in a locked cell and some people looking at me and the wiser one explaining to them, “That is what we call the HUMANS, they could be found a million years back but today, WE FIND NO TRACE OF THIS SPECIE”.Well, when it comes to taking an initiative, we all are too weak to take the step. And it is actually not our fault. We are being ruled since the dawn of civilisation by a group of people claiming virtual power over us. Now it is almost genetic to pay heed to instructions rather than deciding what is really required. Though we have it all in our minds, we never find its way out from the brain to the mouth to speak. I do not want to discuss about how to protect the environment as it has been discussed over and over again. But I want to discuss why don’t we end up with a solution? Materialistic thinking even if hidden is clearly visible on all of us. We want to save our environment. But first we want to fulfil what we want because it is the fellows to whom we want to prove our power first. What is environment to us? Nothing beyond the science book of class eight books where it says it is combination of air, water and land producing a biosphere. Just mug the definition, puke it in the exam and forget it? Yes! That is what even I have done. Our definition for environment is the best social circle, the latest gadgets, brand new huge and money (too obvious). All we need is a splash of water and wake up. We need to take up the initiative and think for our earth ourselves. The UN cannot decide for us all. Let them be busy with their diplomacy. Let not environment ignite another war. Let the government think of other problems considering there are just too many of them. Let’s all pledge to take care of the environment ourselves. Let not anyone tell us how to take care of our own natural family. Because this responsibility of caring for our surroundings cannot be taught it is just there in each of, it is upon us to discover it!
