Number four, and the last one for tonight.
Relaxing Day? I think not.
My mom wasn’t the one who trashed my room. We both had a hunch who did, though. Mom walked downstairs. I started the cleaning of my room. A bottle of nail polish remover spilled so I opened my wind to the humid air, warming up my air conditioned room. I grabbed a small fan from my closet to keep things cool. After an hour or so, I heard my eight year old stepsister Veronica slam the door and shout, “I’m home!” and the being shushed by my mother.
I walked downstairs to see my mother and Veronica hugging each other in the kitchen. I cleared my throat and Mom walked into the other room. “Vi?” I asked. She noticed my unhappy expression.
“Yeah?” Her expression matched mine now. She looked to the floor and her shoulder length light brown hair came out from behind her ear. Veronica knew what was going on.
I sighed. “Did you go through my room?” I picked her chin up to look at me. “Vi?”
Tears welled up in her eyes. I felt horrible. “Yeah! I’m so sorry!” she sobbed. I quickly pulled her into a hug. Veronica wrapped her arms around my waist and nuzzled her head into my stomach. I patted her head.
“It’s okay! You’re not in trouble. I just want to know why.” I rubbed her back, trying to calm her down. i heard her say something incoherent, so I pulled away. “Okay, spill.”
Vi laughed a bit through the tears. “It’s a really long story, but here it is–” she took a deep breath. “Lilly-saw-Bianca-and-Jake-kissing-and-so-I-told-her-that-you-guys-used-to-be-friends-and-that-you-still-have-pictures-so-she-asked-me-to-bring-some-and-I-brought-the-one-that-was-on-your-desk-and-so-Lilly-and-Courtney-decided-that-Bianca-is-evil-but-we-already-knew-that-and-so-we-think-that-you-and-Jake-should-be-together-again-because-I-remember-that-picture-of-you-and-Jake-and-you-had-ice-cream-on-your-face-and-he-looked-at-you-like-he-loved-you-so-he-has-to-still-and-Bianca-is-like-Sharpay-and-you-are-like-Gabriella-and-Jake-is-like-Troy-so-you-have-to-be-with-him-and-Sharpay-is-evil-and-so-is-Bianca-because-she-yells-at-us-and-takes-stuff-from-our-hands-because-she-is-mean-and-so-I-couldn’t-find-that-special-picture-of-you-and-Jake-but-I-was-going-to-be-late-for-school-so-I-didn’t-have-time-to-clean-up-and-I’m-so-sorry!” She said.
I had to rerun the story again because it came so fast. Courtney and Lilly are Bianca’s younger sisters, twin sisters, which are best friends with Veronica. I almost laughed at the reference to my step-sister’s favorite movie, it was totally dumb (the movie), but I contained my laugh. “Vi, my life isn’t like some movie. Jake and I are not going to have a happy ending like that movie.” she pouted. “Life doesn’t work that way, Vi. Okay? So no more plotting to get us together, it won’t work.”
Veronica frowned. “Yes it will! Jake loves you! We know it!” she stamped her foot. “High School Musical is real!” I sighed.
“Sure. I’m going to finish cleaning.” I slowly walked away. What was possessing my sister? I was worried that she thought a movie was real. Once I made it to my small room, I plopped onto my stomach, on the bed. I was so tired.
