Why is it, just before Christmas, the prices go up?

Why put Gas and Electricity up?

We are all trying to cope with the extra  expense that happens at Christmas, and now, just as we enter December, we are told that Gas and Electricity suppliers are going to put their prices up by at least 7per cent. This will bring hardship to many people, with snow threatened this weekend, and at least 2 more weeks of extremely cold weather ahead of us.

The strange thing is, it was announced that these energy suppliers have enjoyed 40% profit this year, so why do they need to extract even more money out of people when we are still in the midst of a credit crunch, people are losing their jobs and their homes, and food has risen to  an extremely high price too?

But all may not be doom and gloom, because the energy regulating body have decided to look into it, and see if the consumer is being taken advantage of. I will look forward to the results of this, and  let’s hope we can all afford to keep ourselves warm without going bankrupt in the meantime.
