Evidence from the Singapore Chinese Health Study, funded by the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, revealed lower levels of some cancer in people who habitually drank daily quantities of tea. Tea has been found to prevent the kind of cell damage that can result in atherosclerosis, and the formation of blood clots. In addition to having an overall beneficial effect on your body, this prevention works to reduce instances where you might be of risk from heart disease.

Overview

The earlier tea buds are harvested, the more nutrients are present and the healthier the resulting tea will be. According to the Amazing Tea website, the amount of nutrients found in the green tea habitually drunk in the West contains less than 10mg of theanine per cup, a chemical used by your body to reduce stress and anxiety. This includes the amount found in instant green tea. Although many green teas also contain caffeine, the effects are reduced by the theanine that is naturally present in the tea.

Less Cell Damage

Antioxidants are known to modify the metabolic effects of harmful chemicals, called free radicals, in the body. Dr Weisburger, from the Institute of Cancer Prevention, explains that the antioxidant content in green tea, including instant green tea, is 10 times higher than in any other fruit of vegetable that is currently known about. These chemicals are called polyphenols. Even in partly processed tea, from which instant green tea is produced, the polyphenol content is high enough to modify the harmful effects of free radicals that are the result of normal metabolism in your body.

Reduction in Bad Cholesterol

Heart disease and strokes were fewer in people who drank at least two cups of green tea a day and preferably, three cups. Although instant green tea has a vastly reduced amount of phytonutrients generally, due to it being processed, this did not detract from the overall benefits of instant green tea since the levels of polyphenols generally are still sufficiently high enough to be more than effective. Polyphenol levels reduce in direct relation to the amount of fermentation that occurs during processing. For example, green tea is only partially processed while black tea is fully fermented.

A 2.2 gram tea bag containing ordinary black tea, or regular tea, contains 175mg of polyphenols. Comparatively, the amount of green tea extract that is recommended for daily consumption is 100 to 750mg per day. A single cup of tea will yield between 50 to 150 mg of polyphenols so, if you are regularly drinking 3 cups of the best green tea, you can expect to be consuming 450mg of polyphenols each day.

Boost Weight Loss

As the result of clinical studies carried out in Japan and reported in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition”, an article entitled “Green Tea, Better Secrets” explains that the effects of green tea on weight loss have been thoroughly investigated. Results from these studies seem to indicate that chemicals in green tea have a beneficial effect on boosting your body’s metabolism as well as reducing any cravings you might experience.

Overall Health Benefits of Instant Green Tea

Regular tea drinking has been shown to slow down the speed at which tumors grow, improve skin, reduce the onset of diabetes, protect bones, reduce heart disease, reduce the incidence of lung cancer, and lower LDL which is the bad cholesterol that you really do not want in your body. Studies have also revealed that bladder cancer cells failed to multiply as readily as they did in non-tea drinkers. A similar effect was noted with other cancers. Drinking tea on a regular basis was also found to prevent damage to your skin from the effects of the sun. Is there any better reason that you can think of for including 3 cups of green tea in your daily diet, on a regular basis?
