Can you find love on a love show.
NFL superstar and Cincinnati Bengals Wide Reciever Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, was the latest celeb to turn to VH1 and try his luck with reality tv. The finale episode to his hit show “The Ultimate Catch” aired recently, and left viewers with one question. Will history repeat itself?
By my caculations 100% of celebritys that do love shows has had a season 2. Which lead fans to beleive that either the show is scripted, or you just can’t find love on a love show. Take hip hop legend Flavor Flav for instance, he had 3 seasons to the highly popular “The Flavor Of Love”. In the last season he actually left the winner on the reunion for his baby mother.
The Flavor of Love was a spin off of “The Bachealor”, but was the official start of celebrities hosting a tv show trying to find love. Being on The Flavor Of Love started the careers of a few contestants as well. Which in my oppinion is why most contestants auditioned for the show. Not to find love, but for personal gain. One that had the most sucess probably was the self proclaimed “H.B.I.C.” “New York”.
New York lost to “Hoopz” on the first season of The Flavor of Love. Then on the second season was brought back on one episode. On that episode a old flame was ignited and, she was ask to be a contestant on season 2 also. Unfortantely for New York, she lost again, but that didn’t stop her. Tiffany “New York” Pollard was given her own show by VH1.
On the first season of ” I Love New York”, the winner “Tango” left her at the reunion. Which caused her to say how she shouldve chose “Chance” instead. On season 2 she chose the most hated guy in the house “Talor Made” but in the end it didn’t work out. Chance and his brother “Real” came back for one episode to give New York there 2 cents on the guys in the house. Chance and Real was also given they own show that spawned 2 seasons. Sad to say neither Chance or Real found love on a love show.
It didn’t stop there for New York she also was giving non love shows called “New York Goes To Holloywood” and “New York Goes To Work”. Also had a small role in Ice Cube’s movie “First Sunday”. Not to include her numerous tv appearnces on shows like “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Tyra Banks Show” to name a few. Being on a reality show launched her into the c-list (maybe D) celebrity life style.
New York, Real and Chancd wasn’t the only contestants that lost and had success outside the show. Many contestants used the show to further there modeling or acting career. Some went
into comedy and some aren’t even remembered.
Can’t forget about Rock and Roll legend Bret Michaels who had 3 seasons of his own show. Or R&B singer Ray J who had 2 and Penthouse Model Tila Tequilia who also had 2 seasons. All these stars have one thing in common……none of em found love on a love show.
