William and Mary

William III and Mary II were married, and were both grandchildren of Charles I. Mary, was the daughter of James II. William, was the son of William II, and he was also called William of Orange. Mary was born in 1662, and died in 1694, from small pox. William was born in 1650, and died in 1702, because he was thrown from his horse. At first William and mary didn’t like eachother, but after a while they became devoted and respected each other. William and Mary lived in England, and knew that parliament was having troubles with their king. William and Mary were remembered because they strove to spread protestatism to decrease the Catholic influence. He also lead a professional army to unseat James II who was having problems with parliament, and wanted to take England over with Catholic faith. To save the church of England, Parliament turned to William to save them. He eventually unseated James II and became the king of England because of conquest. William’s wife was daughter of James, but she refused to take the throne, so William became king. William and Mary influenced the protestant church. William also ended the revolution by signing the English Bill of Rights, which began rule with the monarch and parliament. This ended conflict between parliament and the king or queen. It also influenced and inspired a revolution in North America with the colonists.
