Short note about Winston Churchill.
Winston Churchill (1874-1965) became Prime Minister in 1940. Before this he was a conservative MP. He had also fought in the First World War (1914-1918). Before the war, Churchill had warned that the rise of dictators, such as Hitler, would lead to another war. During the war, Churchill was a powerful leader. He became famous for the speeches he made to keep people going. After the war ended, Churchill and his goverment were voted out of power in an election, and the Labour Party took over. The Labour Party made many change. However, Churchill and the Conservatives were re-elected in 1951. In 1955, Churchill resigned as Prime Minister, but he remained an MP until 1964.
