Chapters 1-7

1. Perseverance p.8: Continuing or repeating something

2. Desolate p.11: Decertified

3. Expanse p.36: A wide and open space or area as of surface or land or sky

4. Juvenile p.12: Lack of maturity; prison for young kids

5. Preposterous p.34: Something that has no sense

6. Gestured p.36: Motion of the body; expresses with a body

7. Deftly p.32: In the fast manner

8. Excavated p.34: Something that got dug

9. Grimaced p.39: To make a sharp contortion of the face

10. Forlorn p.30: Miserable, wretched, or cheerless; desolate

11. Expelling p.34: Force to do something; deprive of something

12. Scarcity p.21: Insufficient amount of something

13. Perimeter p.28: Any boundary around something, such as a hole

14. Stifling p.6: Oppressively hot or stuffy

15. Spigot p.20: The water that comes out of a small hole

16. Predatory p.42: An animal that eats others

17. Intensity p.47: Exceptionally great concentration, power, or force

18. Fossilized p.49: To convert into a fossil

19. Engraved p.60: To carve, cut, or etch into a material

20. Presumably p.74: Taken for granted

21. Prey p.42: An animal hunted or caught for food

22. Stationery p.43: Writing paper and envelopes

23. Radiated p.45: Emit rays (light for example), glowing

24. Paranoid p.71: Extremely scared of something

25. Etched p.61: To cut into the surface of (glass, etc) by the action of acid

26. Upholstery p.44: the padding, covering, etc., of a piece of furniture

27. Scowled p.46: To express with a frowning facial expression

28. Appropriate p.57: Suitable for a particular occasion, etc…

30. Evict p.75: To put out; expel; reject

73. Precarious: Dangerously lacking in security or stability

74. Legitimate: Being in compliance with the law; lawful
