Does anger help you during a workout?
So, I walked in the gym today prepared to work hard, not realizing that it would totally exhaust me physically and emotionally. Emotionally? Really, I was not sure how that was possible until today. Due to a recent argument between my husband and I, I have had a hard time of letting this one go. Now, I won’t go into details about the argument, as I don’t think it is necessary to air my dirty laundry in order to get my point across. My regular regimen consists of weight training for about the first half hour and then abs and a half hour cardio session. Mind you, the workout alone has been kicking my tail, but today i walked in with this giant ball of anger who decided to workout alongside me. Every part of our conversation from the night before followed me to each exercise, and eventually replayed itself out during my half hour cardio session. Even though I had my headphones in and music blaring, it still didn’t seem to take away the emotional stress I had endured most of the night. It did however, fuel my workout to no end. Anger is an emotion so strong, it can grasp it’s hand on you, and before you know it, it takes over every ounce of you. I have found that in order to control my anger, it is imperative to have an outlet. Unfortunately for many, they choose alternative lifestyles like drinking and drugs. I have found that the gym is a great place to work it out, and if you work hard enough, you just might leave it there once you hit the showers.
