This piece talks about the only thing that is truly valuable and how some seem to over look it.

Some people seem perplexed by my habits; yet, one of the things they consider the most bizarre is my tendency to leave what they consider to be “valuable” things laying around in the open unsecured. Call me crazy but I don’t understand what is so valuable about a diamond ring or designer clothes. I mean of course they are glamorous and expensive but they ARE replaceable. When people hear me say this they think that I’m crazy. They simply cannot fathom a reason why I would think such a thing; yet, the reasoning is quite simple. When someone asks you what the most valuable thing you have you might respond by saying something like “my car” or “my house” or some other pricey things. Just think about this for a second and say what your most valued thing is.
Now that you have answered that question I want you to hear my response and really think about it. The most valuable thing I have is my life. I always lock the doors to keep MYSELF safe. After hearing that most people are probably still saying that leaving my things unlocked or unsecured is still unbelievable. I look at it this way: Why lock it up if it has no true value? Take that diamond ring for example, the only reason you think it is valuable is because society has lead you to think that it is valuable. What use does it really have? You wear it on your finger and then what? It doesn’t make you any better and although it might make you happy that sense of happiness doesn’t last very long. People say diamonds are forever but, although most of us don’t what to face the fact, we are not going to live forever. If I have a diamond ring in my possession it’s because someone gave it to me as a gift. I don’t buy things that are worthless and ironically enough the things that are truly the most valuable can’t be brought.
