A short story about two people, one of them makes a terrible mistake, could it cost them their marriage? Is Divorce the only action that remains? Good questions.

Chapter 1

You broke my heart, she cried. How could you do that? What you did is tearing me apart. What am I to you, a piece of wood? How could you break your promises to me this way, after all we have been through? Sherry lay face down, not wanting to look at Frank anymore, he broke her heart, and she didn’t even know if she wanted to live one more moment, not alone look into his cheating eyes. You come home to me, make love to me then tell me you’ve been with another woman, man you are some kind of bold. I hope you wore protection though I know that’s not your style. If I catch a disease Frank, I’ll kill you.

What had started out as a High School romance, and had gone on through College, the two of them inseparable, was now lying deep within her broken heart. They’d been buddies at first, just good friends, and that friendship had grown into something so very special, that one day Frank proposed marriage to her, and Sherry was ready. All she’d ever wanted was for a man to love her, so she considered herself lucky when Frank proposed, and she readily accepted.

That was just over five years ago. They’d been through a lot during those five years. Sherry had given up her goals to continue in College, so she could work and help Frank get is Business Diploma, so they would have a good life together. Then their dreams of having a home fell apart, when their country went into a depression, and Frank lost his job. Even though they lost their first home, they were still madly in love and planned another try at owning a home, when things got better. Then she had fallen sick with Lung Cancer, and Frank was there for her every step of the way. He meant so much to her, that sometimes she thought she could hug him to death. Sherry loved him so much. She thought that Frank loved her as much as she loved him, but after tonight’s confession, from Frank, she wasn’t sure about anything anymore. All she wanted to do was lay on the bed, her face buried in the pillows, and cry her heart out.

Frank had done the one thing she never ever thought he’d do. He had sex with another woman. Though he explained to her that he was little tipsy and it just happened, that didn’t make any difference to Sherry, it was the last thing in the world she’d ever expected to hear from Frank. Sherry was disgusted with Frank. He made her sick.
