A short story about two people, one of them makes a terrible mistake, could it cost them their marriage? Is Divorce the only action that remains? Good questions.

Two weeks went by before Frank called Sherry telling her he’d found a Marriage Professor who was willing to work with him, did she want to be present? Yes of course Frank I do want to be there to see if any progress is being made on your behalf. Frank was a little irked with Sherry’s attitude, but it was what she wanted, and him too, so he let her remarks go. There was no longer any doubt that he loved Sherry way more than he had ever admitted to himself or to her, and the last thing he wanted was for her to give up on him.

All in all, they went to twenty meetings and Frank showed Sherry that he wanted changes in his life, and she knew it was coming from his heart or she would have stopped everything weeks ago. For the first time in such a long time, Sherry invited Frank to come to her apartment and he agreed, nearly falling down with shock, he never thought he’d hear her ask him to join her in her in a park, never mind her new apartment.

They sat down on the sofa and Sherry looked into Frank’s eyes. Frank you know me too well, you know that I love you and I know that you love me, but our love wasn’t very strong when we were last together, or none of this would have happened, wouldn’t you agree? Frank knew that Sherry was right, he’d learned more about himself in the past twenty weeks than he had in his lifetime, and he vowed to continue, as he felt better about himself and others around him, especially Sherry.

Sherry offered Frank a glass of wine, sort of a celebration she told him. What are we celebrating he asked. Us, she told him, you and me, our love, our sacrifices, and our future if you want that. Tears were coming out of both of their eyes, yes Sherry honey, you know I want that more than anything. I want us again, and I promise never to stray again.

That night for the first time in what seemed an eternity they slept together, made love over and over again, until the two of them were totally exhausted.

Frank was so happy to have Sherry back in his arms once again, to know that she loved him almost made him high and Sherry felt the same way about Frank. She knew there’d be no more stupid mistakes on Frank’s behalf, and she would do her best not to do anything that would bring anger between them.

Frank asked Sherry did she want to come back home? Hmm she answered let me think about that for a moment, ok she said, lets call a cab.
