A short story about two people, one of them makes a terrible mistake, could it cost them their marriage? Is Divorce the only action that remains? Good questions.

Of course, Dr. Anderson couldn’t answer Sherry’s questions he hadn’t spoken to Frank, and hadn’t even known that Frank wasn’t happy sexually with Sherry. However, he did have advice for Sherry, and that was that she would have to go and have a check up for any Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and of course that would include Aids. Sherry sat in her chair as though stunned by Dr. Anderson’s words. She hadn’t even thought about the possibility of a Sexually Transmitted Disease, but she knew Frank not to ever want to wear a condom. He’d refused the first time they’d made love, so there was every chance that he hadn’t worn one last night, when he slept with that other woman.

Dr. Anderson filled out the necessary papers and gave Sherry copies of the tests the wanted done. He advised her that she shouldn’t waste any time in getting the tests done as anything was possible, and maybe Frank had caught some sort of Sexual Disease. Better safe than sorry he told Sherry, though his words seemed distant to Sherry, she was so stunned by this turn of events she didn’t even bother to excuse herself, she just got up and walked out of her doctors office. Not only was she shocked by what Frank had done, but also now, she had to contend with the possibility that she could have a sexual disease. She found herself walking into a near by clinic to have her tests done. The nurse asked all kinds of questions, but Sherry just sat there dumbfounded, not knowing what to say to the nurse. When the tests were finished, Sherry was advised to see her doctor again in a week or so, he would have all the results. In the meantime the nurse told her, try not to worry, it may turn out to be nothing, but Sherry wasn’t too sure about that possibility.

She decided not to go back to work, instead, she found a cheap Motel and decided to stay there for the night. She didn’t want anyone to know what was going on in her life at this time, and more so she didn’t want to see Frank. All afternoon her cell phone rang, and if it wasn’t ringing it was beeping that she had messages. Frank had text messaged her about five times, but she just couldn’t be bothered answering his messages. She felt lost and needed some time to think things over. What was she going to say to her parents, after-all they must be wondering why she hadn’t called them today, she called every day. Some of her closest friends would be asking questions too, as she always had a few favorite girl friends that she talked to every day. Sherry just wanted peace and time to think of what her next move would be with Frank. She knew she couldn’t stay in the Motel for long, eventually she’d have to face Frank, but when she was ready to do that, what would she say to him, she wondered.
