"I miss you" can mean a lot to someone when they know you truly mean the words.
Don’t you love to hear someone say the words, “I miss you”? These three little words can mean just as much as an “I love you”, in my opinion. Knowing that you are missed by someone is knowing that you have someone who enjoys your company because of who you are, whether it is your humour, your kindness, helpful ways, etc… It is a wonderful feeling to know that someone is thinking of you and wishing you were there with him/her.
Truly missing someone most often occurs when you have been apart for a long period of time, or what seems like a long period of time to you. A few days apart from someone could be enough to make you miss them, depending on how close you normally are to the person and how busy you are during time spent apart. Sometimes, even keeping as busy as you can manage will not take away the empty feeling you have when you are apart from someone you love. This is why I believe it is so important to tell someone when he/she is being missed. Let him/her know he/she is on your mind and that you can’t wait until you get to see him/her again! The empty feeling may be replaced by warmth and comfort in knowing he/she is missed.
I can’t say I love you yet, because these words are too strong of words for the amount of time I have been in a relationship. I still don’t know how and when I will know that I love someone I am in a romantic relationship with, but hopefully when I do, the love will be easy to distinguish. However, I am sure that I miss my boyfriend so very much and I cannot wait to see him the next time he comes home. Just now, when he told me he misses me a lot, I got a warm feeling inside. Every time he says it, it makes me feel wonderful. Those three little words help me to feel better about the fact that I cannot see him as much as I would like to right now.
