Your wardrobe selection can tell a lot about your mood, personality and your general state of mind. Learn how to evaluate what you have in your closet.
Shopping can be therapeutic for manyl people. It seems the ability to select new things can create some sort of diversion for the mind, and a temporary feeling of well being is created by the act of shopping. Women love to shop for clothes. Yet, sometimes the clothes that they select and purchase are not worn or enjoyed later. This can create confusion, but a little knowledge can go a long way toward understanding what is in the wardrobe.
Busy Patterns
Have you ever pulled out a top to throw on with a pair of jeans, started brushing your teeth, looked at yourself in the mirror and and realized you simply do not want to spend the day in the top? Perhaps it feels busy, intense, and manic. Think about the day you purchased it. Were you having a hectic day, that might have been over flowing and out of control. Perhaps the top was picked out when you were feeling manic and now you are in a relaxed mood and the busy pattern simply brings up a sense of craziness in your life that you do not wish to embrace. Perhaps a white t-shirt is more to your liking and would feel better. Or, maybe a bright red soft shirt is what you feel drawn to. Interesting, is it not? There does seem to be a pattern to our selection of the clothes we purchase and wear.
Do you ever notice yourself being drawn to a particular pattern, texture or color as you pull things from your wardrobe? Some days you need a soft, flowing article of clothing to embrace you. Other days you feel edgy and want to be dramatic and bold. Or, some days you are a bit down and out and pull out the dull and drab clothes, because you simply do not care what you put on our body.
The general feeling of our emotional state is often reflected in our clothes. Our buying patterns are often directly influenced by what is going on in our life. If you take the time to stand in front of your closet and categorize clothes by color and pattern you will often find that you can identify what was going on in your life when you selected a particular garment. When your life is running at a fast speed you often purchase clothes that are intense and have bold patterns. Yet, when life is smooth and feels right, the selections are often solid colors and more sedate. Bright solid colors are often selected in periods of time when you are experiencing happiness or intense pleasure or excitement.
Sometimes simply being aware of why the clothes were selected to be puchased can help a person recognize what is going on in their life. Once a behavior is recognized, it can be addressed. Are you only buying busy, intense clothing? Perhaps you need to slow down a bit, take a few days off for relaxation , or get in touch with what is causing your behavior. Look in your closet and evaluate your buying patterns. You might just learn something that will enable you to be more peaceful and at ease with yourself.
